While campaigning, President Donald Trump pledged to build a wall at the Mexican border.
This is one of his attempts to fix the issues around the illegal immigration that were left behind by the previous president, Barack Obama.
Despite the numerous attacks from the Democrats, Trump proved that he will fulfill his promise.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement announced that since he stepped into the office, the illegal border crossings have decreased to 23,7 percent.
Acting ICE Director Thomas Homan stated: “While the historic low in CPB’s border apprehensions led to a slight decline in overall removals, ICE’s strong interior enforcement efforts nearly made up all the difference. Overall removals are down because the border’s under better control than it has been in 45 years. That’s a good story.”
Regarding the arrests of these illegal immigrants, the ICE confirmed that from January to September, the authorities arrested around 110,000 people. This means that there is a 42-percent increase comparing to last year.
Also, around 226,000 illegal aliens were deported from the country around that same time. Since Trump was elected, 92 percent of illegal immigrants were arrested, including fugitives or individuals with criminal records.
Officials confirmed that every single success in this region is because of President Trump and his work. His decisions to improve the laws around immigration are a big help when it comes to arresting the criminal illegal immigrants.
Homan stated: “I read a lot of stories and comments over the last several months falsely accusing ICE of conducting indiscriminate raids and sweeps, arresting people at churches, arresting people at hospitals. I repeatedly said that is false. We conduct targeted enforcement operations, every person we arrest, we know exactly who we’re going to arrest and where we’re going to arrest them based on a lot of investigative intelligence data.”
Regarding this, Trump stated: “President Obama has moved millions of people out. Nobody knows about it. Nobody talks about it. But under Obama, millions of people have been moved out of this country. They’ve been deported.”
President Trump promised “On Day One, I am going to begin swiftly removing criminal illegal immigrants from this country,” and we can see that he is already achieving that. I bet that the criminal incidents committed by illegal immigrants will be significantly decreased in the following months.
